At Chicago Apartment Place, Inc. we don’t just have beautiful 4-bedroom Chicago apartments available for rent (such as our units at 706 W. Wellington or 2214 N. Kenmore), we also have our ear to the ground for the latest fun happenings around the city! Below are some of the amazing local events that we’ve recommended to our tenants for October. We’d love to hear any other suggestions for the Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Old town, or West Loop areas!
- Does the gloomy weather have you yearning for a laugh? Go check out The Annoyance Theater and Bar! Gently nestled under the busy Belmont L stop in East Lakeview, this historic alt-comedy theater is home to legendary shows and improv. They even offer a multitude of classes for those of you with a well-developed funny bone. Check out their website below for their current shows!
- We’ve heard a lot of you in Old town talk about how much you adore carving pumpkins. Well you’re in luck – this Thursday, October 25th, Benchmark is having a carve-tastic pumpkin carving party beginning at 6:30 p.m.! This 21+ bar event will have drink specials, scary movies, and the opportunity to leave your mark (literally) on one of the many pumpkins they’ll have available. The $15 admission fee includes a pumpkin (with carving tools and stencils) AND a free cookie skillet! Let us know how it was and show some of your best pumpkin carvings in the comments below!
- Halloween is coming up soon – those of you looking for kid-friendly (or broke-friendly) options to dress in your monstrous best are in luck! The Lincoln Park Zoo’s annual Spooky Zoo is this Saturday, October 27th! This free event gives more than 30,000 children the opportunity to dress up and get candy while observing adorable animals. The candy starts at 10:30 a.m., so be sure to get there early to get the good stuff.
- Darkness and demons and drag queens, oh my! There are many things for you to do for Halloween this Wednesday, but there’s only one free, award-winning parade through Lakeview. Featuring costume contests hosted by the esteemed Chicago drag performers Lucy Stoole, T Rex, Tenderoni, and Dixie Lynn Cartwright, this sickening strut kicks off at Halsted and Belmont at 7:30 p.m. The contest winners will be announced at 8:30 and then it’s off to one of several fabulous frightful fests such as the post-parade After Life dance party in the Mid City parking lot beginning at 9:00. It’s free to watch, but with $4000 in cash and prizes given to the costume contest winners it may be worth your while to dust off that ole jug of fake blood you have lying around and participate in the festivities. Happy Halloween!
